Imagine

John Lennon died 27 years ago today. It's hard to imagine he would be 67 by now. As a teenager I listened to a lot of Beatles tunes... one of their tapes was often playing in my walkman... I would often lay in bed at night with them singing me to sleep. Yoko has written him the following letter:
December 8, 2007
I miss you, John. 27 years later, I still wish I could turn back the clock to the Summer of 1980. I remember everything - sharing our morning coffee, walking in the park together on a beautiful day, and seeing your hand stretched to mine - holding it, reassuring me that I shouldn't worry about anything because our life was good.
I had no idea that life was about to teach me the toughest lesson of all. I learned the intense pain of losing a loved one suddenly, without warning, and without having the time for a final hug and the chance to say, "I love you," for the last time. The pain and shock of that sudden loss is with me every moment of every day. When I touched John's side of our bed on the night of December 8th, 1980, I realized that it was still warm. That moment has haunted me for the past 27 years - and will stay with me forever.
Even harder for me is watching what was taken away from our beautiful boy, Sean. He lives in silent anger over not having his Dad, whom he loved so much, around to share his life with. I know we are not alone. Our pain is one shared by many other families who are suffering as the victims of senseless violence. This pain has to stop.
Let's not waste the lives of those we have lost. Let's, together, make the world a place of love and joy and not a place of fear and anger. This day of John's passing has become more and more important for so many people around the world as the day to remember his message of Peace and Love and to do what each of us can to work on healing this planet we cherish. Let's: Think Peace, Act Peace, and Spread Peace. John worked for it all his life. He said, "there's no problem, only solutions." Remember, we are all together. We can do it, we must. I love you!

Check out her website and the video of her and John here.... keep watching until the end so you don't miss his 'War is Over' Christmas video. His voice makes me feel so good. Even though you were before my time, I miss you too, John.
Peace
Dance Recital

Tasha (9) had her Christmas Dance Recital last night. She's in Modern this year, and she did awesome! It ended with a pyramid which MG was very proud to be at the top of with 'show off Lily' ;) I love those performances. Man was it long though. Her class was #10 out of 31 number. Wow. 2 and half hours. We could have sat through it no problem, but it was a bit hard on Daniel and Lulu, although overall they did really well, with a few excursions to the bathroom & water fountain. (Brandy & Jake stayed home). Their efforts were rewarded it turned out, as there was a surprise visit from Santa afterwards who handed out candycanes. Very Exciting. Plus the usual yummy spread of potluck offerings. It was a late but great night! Way to go Tasha, you're our dancing star :)

Ok, I seriously have to stop fooling around with these type of things! I just have a few more to make for friends/family, and then I swear I'm cutting myself off!

When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments; tenderness for what he is, and respect for what he may become. ~ Louis Pasteur
Well, for all you fans of the "Smitholm" clan out there, this is your LUCKY day. A new blog just for you; keeping you abreast of our latest doings. Complete with the occasional photo, handy links, and cute quotes from my cute kids and others.
I've wanted to do this for a long time but was afraid of the whole privacy thing. I finally figured that it can be as private as I make it...
.
.
.
My top 2 goals here are 1) to keep a record of things in our lives, as each week seems to be slipping by like it's a day, and each month like a mere week etc. And 2) to try and keep bring loved ones more 'into the loop' of our daily lives, as that whole time thing seems to be a factor here too. So bear with me as I try and figure this whole scene out... :) K
